So, as for death, the biblical definition is found in James 2:26 where the spirit leaves the body and where does it go? Read Ecclesiastes 12:7, for the KEY word, RETURN.
The spirit could not RETURN, unless it had been there previous to earth life.
Now for a mind bender please read John 20:17, where Jesus say’s we share the same father, and same God.
That could only happen if we had a preexistant life.
I have 27 New Testament scriptures referring to preexistant life, but this should at least raise an interest level.

We have revelation upon revelation from outside the Bible to enlighten us. Unless those revealed scriptures and revelations receive respect, Mormonism will never fit your narrow critieria. It simply means that God already had our days numbered. He already knew who we would be and what we would do. After all, would God be all-knowing if he didn’t know us before we ever were? Pre-mortal existence has never been taught by the Bible. What it calls for just isn’t biblical.

It certainly seems that Joseph Smith’s family were foreordained to serve and support him. The answer to your question is probably, sometimes-yes, but often-no. It seems possible that certain people were very close to one another in the pre-mortal existence and may have petitioned the Lord to be together during mortality. These truths will be revealed fully at the Second Coming and ushering in of the Millennium.
