Many Latter-day Saints who have gone inactive have done so because they have been "offended" by another member of the Church. It happens all the time. Of course many of those who have left the Church have done so because they disagree with doctrine. They may remain members with those disagreements unless they openly rebel against the Church and try to take others with them. It is very difficult, however, to engage in sin that puts you at odds with the church you belong to. You must either bring yourself in line with the doctrines of your church, or hold on to your sin and change your affiliation. This also happens. In all churches.

You know... It's ok to say that some ex-mormons have determined that the LDS church is false. You can say this; it is, after all, what many of them claim LED THEM FROM THE CHURCH, as opposed to being offended or secret sins. Since you obviously believe in the LDS Church and believe that it is true, then you can simply say what you must believe - that they got their research and conclusions wrong. Just say that, it's ok.

1) Everyone sins. Many have addictions. If it were "secret sins" then just about everyone in the Church would have left it. Or else you are saying that life-long members were sinless. Really?

2) Saying that people turn from the True God because a human offended them is just plain stupid and disrespectful. LDS who say this are basically saying that everyone who has ever left, whatever the tons of information and reason they give, actually just left because they put the actions of someone else over God. Really?
