Becoming a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints happens as one receives a personal answer to prayer regarding the fact that the Savior has come to the earth again and re-established His Church–with its pure doctrines, with full authority to act in His behalf, with all ordinances necessary to return to His presence and to have satisfaction and joy here and hereafter. It comes to those who have prayerfully read The Book of Mormon and know it is true. It involves a willingness to keep the Lord’s commandments and laws of chastity, morality, tithing, service.

Having been divorced before becoming a member is not an obstacle in terms of marrying some day in the temple, once one has repented of any misdeeds and been baptized by authority.
